Container gantry cranes are the largest cranes used in shipping industry operations. It is designed to load and unload container cargo from container ships. The container crane is operated by a specially trained crane operator from a cab on top of the crane suspended from a trolley. Operators lift containers from ships or docks for loading and unloading. Both crew on board and ashore (gantry operators, stevedores and foremen) are vigilant and properly communicated to avoid any accidents.
Container cranes produced by SEVENCRANE usually transport one container at a time, but our cranes are also capable of picking up two to four 20-foot-long containers at a time if the customer requires it.
There are two common types of container handling gantry cranes: one is the elevated type, the jib is hinged to the water’s edge of the crane structure, and is raised in the air to clear the way for the ship to sail. While the other is a low-rise type, the jib shuttles above the ship, allowing the trolley to load and unload containers. Low-profile cranes are used where they may be in the flight path of aircraft, such as container terminals near airports. The type of crane selected during the container terminal design process is determined by the design vessel and the local environment.
Our company’s container cranes are produced according to FEM, ISO, DIN standards, with compact structure, reasonable design and guaranteed quality.
